The mental challenge of trading involves learning to use the conscious mind in a way that is traditionally reserved for the unconscious.
In your daily life, many things that you do, like walking or driving, happen automatically.
You don’t really think about them. That’s your unconscious mind at work. It means you need to be aware and thoughtful about your actions and decisions. You can’t just react automatically or based on decisions.
For example - you might feel scared or greedy when you are trading. But you can’t let those feelings dictate your decisions.
You need to manage those feelings consciously.
Even if every part of you is saying to act on impulse, you have to resist.
This conscious, deliberate thinking is not usually needed in every day tasks but is critical in trading.
It’s a mental skill that you need to develop.
Trading requires you to use your mind in ways you might not be used to that’s why it is tough.
