"Lord Jagannath fell ill after taking the blessings of the devotee"/ READ THE FULL STORY AND YOU WILL FEEL THE TRUE DEVOTION FROM NOT ONLY DEVOTEE’S SIDE BUT ALSO FROM GOD SIDE )

A devotee used to live in Jagannath Puri in Orissa province, Shri Madhav Das ji used to live alone, he had nothing to do with the world. He used to do bhajan while sitting alone, used to see Shri Jagannath Prabhu daily, and considered him as his friend, used to play with the Lord. The Lord used to do many pastimes with them. God also taught them to steal. Devotee Madhav Das ji used to be engrossed in his fun.

Once Madhav Das ji had a disease of diarrhea. He became so weak that he could not get up and sit, but as long as he was made up, he used to do his own work and did not take service from anyone. If someone says, Maharajji, let us serve you, then they say no, I have only one Jagannath, only he will protect me. In such a situation, when his disease increased, he became unable to even sit up, then Shri Jagannathji reached his house as a volunteer and asked Madhavdasji to serve you.

Because his disease had increased so much that he did not even know when he used to pass stool and urine. Clothes used to get dirty. Lord Jagannath used to clean those clothes with his own hands, used to clean their whole body, cleaned them. No one can serve himself as much as Lord Jagannath used to do for devotee Madhav Das.

When Madhavdasji regained consciousness, he immediately recognized that this is my Lord. One day Shri Madhavdasji asked the Lord - “Lord! You are the owner of Tribhuvan, you are the master, you are serving me. If you wanted, you could have removed this disease of mine too, if you had removed the disease, you would not have to do all this. Thakurji says - "Look Madhav! I can't tolerate the suffering of the devotees, that's why I served you myself. Whatever is destined has to be suffered. If you don't cut it in this life, then you will have to suffer it in the next life." Will have to take another birth and I don't want my devotee to have to take another birth again because of a slight destiny. That's why I served you but even if you are saying then I can't even avoid talking to the devotee. God easily overcomes the sorrows and sufferings of destiny) Now this 15 days of disease is left in your destiny, so you give me the disease of 15 days. Jagannath Prabhu took that disease for 15 days from Madhavdasji.

That happened then, but look at the devotion of the devotees, even today once in a year Lord Jagannath is given a bath (which is called Snan Yatra). Even today Lord Jagannath falls ill for 15 days every year after taking bath. The temple is closed for 15 days. The kitchen of Lord Jagannath is never closed but for these 15 days his kitchen is closed. God is not fed 56 bhog, (If sick then you have to keep abstinence)

Lord Jagannath is offered decoction for 15 days. During this, Ayurvedic decoction is offered to God. In the Jagannath Dham temple, doctors also come every day to check the illness of God. Apart from the decoction, fruit juices are also given. At the same time, a cold pack is also applied daily. When sick, they are offered fruit juice, chhena and sweetened milk is offered to them before sleeping at night.

Lord Jagannath has fallen ill and will now take rest for 15 days. Temple doors are also closed for 15 days for rest and they are served. so that they get well soon. The day when he is completely cured, the Jagannath Yatra starts, for whose darshan innumerable devotees throng.

By taking trouble on himself, he makes the life of his devotees happy, such is the devotion of Lord Jagannath ji.
