Climate :
Himachal Pradesh has a climate which can be classified into three types like Sub Tropical, Temperate and Alpine . Around 65% of the state geographical area regularly receive snowfall in winters. It snows above all elevations above 1500 m and rarely 900 m . Summers are short and hot mostly in lower elevations. Max temperature in Summers in Plains May go as high as 45°C but same regions experience as low as -2°C in Winters. Regions above 1000 m experience pleasant weather all years round. Cities like Manali, Shimla and Dalhousie receive snow in December. Towns like Kalpa and Kaza are always sub freezing in Winters with a record low of -35°C in Spiti Valley. Dharamshala and Solan share a great similarities in their climate while the former receive more rains due to its position in Himalayan Foothills. River basins of Satluj and Beas can be very hot in Summers months of May and June. Pong lake welcomes Siberian migratory birds every winters.

The state also experience heavy Monsoon rains except rain shadow Cold desert of Lahaul and Spiti district, Kinnaur and some parts of Chamba region in the Great Himalayas. Autumn and Spring are also major seasons which makes the countryside full of colours.
The state is a producer and supplier of Hydroelectricity through Dozens of Highly Engineered Dams. It provides water for irrigation to northern Indian plains. State if also a producer of Apple and many other Fruits and Vegetables that are of superior quality and export to fetch a huge revenue.

There are a lot of educational institutions in the state and it enjoys a high literacy rate. Himachal Pradesh is a rich state with a great potential to be a fully developed region at par with International standards. Himachal Pradesh attracts a large chunk of Immigrants from the relatively poorer states of Bihar and Jharkhand due to very higher Wages, effective governance, employment opportunities and high scope of development.
