Adi Shankaracharya has told about Lord Shiva........

He is the ultimate truth discovered by Lord Brahma and Vishnu which has no beginning and no end. Lord Shiva has been described as the form of light. When the eyes are closed, the whole world is covered in darkness and when the eyes are opened, there is light again.

An example of this is that once Goddess Parvati closed Lord Shiva's eyes with her hands, the whole world was engulfed in darkness. Goddess Parvati was also surprised. As soon as he removed his hand from Lord Shiva's eyes, the whole world became illuminated.
