“Nothing will change unless you change”
It has been a few weeks, I guess, and I have really been struggling to be consistent with even the very basic things in my life. While I think it’s okay to take a break, sit back and relax to recharge whenever we need to, I have very high expectations from myself about being productive and ticking off even the very last item on my to-do list. Before the guilt of not being able to do anything could get multiplied, I reached out to my savior (read: books) and picked up “The Consistence Formula” by Suzi Sung. As of now, it’s safe to say that the book is helping me get the work done and improve my mental health.
Some of the lines are going to stick with me for a very long time because they helped me start working instead of just sitting and lamenting about how bad the situation is (eye-opening lines for me in this situation). My absolute favorites are:
- Doing just 1% of something is better than 20% of nothing.
- Nothing will change unless you change.
- If you want different, you have to do different.
- Even baby steps will take you places.
- If you are always looking over someone else’s path, you will lose focus on your own.
- Don’t take life advice from someone who isn’t living the life you want.
- If something hasn’t worked out the way you planned, don’t change the goal- change the method.
- Regardless of what you are working towards, you will always have some moments when you feel like giving up. The key to remember here is that it is okay to not feel okay at times.
