Chaitra Navratri marks the beginning of a new year according to the Hindu calendar and usually falls in the month of March or April. The word Navaratri is made from two words ‘Nav’ meaning nine and ‘ratri’ meaning night and thus the festival is celebrated for nine days.
The auspicious nine-day festival of Chaitra Navratri began on March 22. It is dedicated to Maa Durga and her nine incarnations - Maa Shailputri, Maa Brahmcharini, Maa Chandraghanta, Maa Kushmanda, Maa Skandmata, Maa Katyayani, Maa Kaalratri, Maa Mahagauri and Maa Siddhidatri. Significance of Chaitra Navratri 2023
The word ‘Navratri’ is an amalgamation of two words, ‘Nava’ and ‘Ratri’. ‘Nav’ means nine. The word ‘Ratri’ is again composed of two words, ‘Ra’ and ‘Tri’. Ra means night and Tri means the three aspects of life – body, mind and soul.
On the day of Chaitra Navratri, nine different forms of Maa Durga are worshipped. They are:-

March 23 - Maa Brahmacharini Puja, Yellow
March 24 - Maa Chandraghanta Puja, Green
March 25 - Lakshmi Panchami Puja, Grey

The Ghat Sthapana, also known as Kalash Sthapana, will be performed on March 22. The muhurat will last from 6:23 am to 7:32 am.
