If could please let me know what you are chanting and how you are doing it (like a audio clip of you chanting) i can help you much better.
The easiest method is to visualize the deity you are invoking this can be done by initially looking at an image while you chant then close your eyes and see the deity in your heart. So far we have visualized a still image the next step is to give life to this image so that the deity comes to life and listens to your chant and blesses you. As you practice this method over time you will be able to call upon the deity at your will without the chant.
