What is the most extreme example of human willpower and discipline?

He is none other than Akkineni Nageswara Rao, widely known as ANR. One of the greatest actors of Telugu and Indian cinema.

He was born in 1924 and when he was at peak of his career, he had first cardiac attack at the age of 50, in 1974.

Undergone surgery and doctors told him, he would live happily for next 14 years.

Great doctors, he didn't have any problems for next 14 years.

He had another cardiac attack exactly after 14 years i.e.,in the year 1988 when he was 64 years old.

This time his heart was very weak and doctors refused to do surgery.

Also told him that he had only few days/weeks time.

But ANR's hunger for acting didn't allow him to accept that harsh truth.

He wanted to live atleast for another 14 years(Till 2002), and he started believing in that very strongly and continued acting in films.

His only mission was 2002. Changed all his car numbers also to 2002.

With all his dedication and discipline, he lived happily till 2002, also continued acting in so many films.

After 2002, when he was 78 years old, he started thinking about his time.

Randomly somewhere he saw a number 9.

Again, he told himself to live for next 9 years. And again his discipline, dedication and will will power took him to next 9 years. Again few films in between.

And it was 2011, he was 88 years old.

He got bored of playing games with death & fate and wanted to gave up the game.

And he was mentally ready to invite the death any time.

Finally death heard his call in the year 2014 when was 91 years old.

Till the time, he never stopped acting. He acted till his last breathe.

This was his last shot of his last film Manam.

ANR lives on….

Note: He had more than 70 years of acting career and acted over 255 movies in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages.

He was Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, Padma Sri & Dada Saheb Falke awardee.

He is also father of well known actor Akkineni Nagarjuna
