Does the brain stop developing at age 25 as popular belief says, or does the brain continue to develop after age 25?

Do you know the experience of London taxi drivers? To obtain their license, they must memorize the capital's 60,000 streets with fingertips. Prospective taxi drivers must take a test every 21 days. They are then asked, in their head, to recite all the streets they have to take to get from point A to point B. After an average of 3.5 years, candidates obtain their license and can practice for a salary of more than 2500 euros monthly.

Well, English researchers have analyzed the brains of these professionals and in particular a region called the hippocampus which is involved in short-term memory and spatial orientation.

They found that the brains of taxi drivers are more developed than that of the average citizen. More precisely, the size of the hippocampus is proportionally modified according to the experience of the driver ; the more profession the driver has, the more the posterior part of the hippocampus grows!

So yes, our brain can develop at any age, well after 25. It's called brain plasticity.
