During my schooldays, I thought everything which was prohibited in my family was normal.
Or, you can say I was super curious to know the logic behind why it was prohibited. Maybe, to me, the elders seemed like old schools. I really can't recall now what went in my mind.
In my family nobody smoked. But outside, I saw some people smoking coolly. I thought it is normal and my people are orthodox.
I felt the temptation to try it and find out why daddy always criticized it. Sometimes, the doctors restrict us to do things in vain.
Now, the problem was - How to get a cigarette? I could not go to any shops as the shopkeepers knew my father. I had feared being caught.
So now was the time to be creative - I plucked some dry leaves, smashed them in my hand and filled the powder in a paper shaped like a cigarette (actually called Bidi, you can see the picture below).
Then I lit it and inhaled. After that, I got some severe sensation in my mouth, nose and throat. My eyes were filled with tears while coughing badly.
My uncle heard me coughing. He came out running and caught me red-handed. He immediately gave me a slap. I felt like collapsing - not sure if it was due to his slap or the cigarette. However, I strongly felt that he should not have reacted so rudely but appreciated me for this homemade cigarette.😝
I was just 12–13 with some crazy thoughts.😃😃😃
Thank you for reading.
Stay Calm!
