Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Virbhadra Singh has passed away. Virbhadra Singh breathed his last today at Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla. Virbhadra was admitted to IGMCH since April 23, despite being cured of Covid twice in the last three months. 87-year-old Virbhadra Singh had been the Chief Minister of Himachal six times. BJP National President JP Nadda and State Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur had also visited IGMCH on Monday to inquire about the health of sitting MLA of Arki in Solan district, Virbhadra Singh.
Virbhadra Singh has been a nine-time MLA, five-time MP and he has been the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh six times. Presently he was MLA from Arki in Solan district. He was admitted to a hospital in Chandigarh after being infected for the first time. After recovering from Kovid, he returned home at Holy Lodge on 30 April. However, a few hours after reaching home, he was again admitted to the IGMC after complaining of shortness of breath.
had retired from electoral politics
Virbhadra Singh had announced his retirement from electoral politics in January this year. He had said that he would not contest the next election. But he has been a true soldier of Congress, so he wants to see Congress as a strong party. Along with this, he had said while giving advice, 'Some people become Congressmen and through their people defeat the Congress. Such people should not be kept in the party. I will not contest elections but I was a Congressman and will remain a Congressman till my death.
