On the fifth day of the rain-hit World Test Championship final, Indian bowlers took the New Zealand batsmen to the test.  Struggling hard, the Kiwis could score 249 runs before being all out.  During this, the most successful bowler for India was Mohammed Shami, who took 4 wickets for 76 runs in 26 overs.  At the same time, apart from him, Ishant Sharma took 3 wickets, Ravichandran Ashwin took 2 wickets and Ravindra Jadeja took 1 wicket.

Mohammed Shami took 4 wickets while conceding 76 runs, with which he broke the 38-year-old record of Mohinder Amarnath.  This figure is the record for the best performance by an Indian bowler in the final of any ICC Championship.  Former great all-rounder Mohinder Amarnath took 3 for 12 against West Indies in the final of the 1983 Cricket World Cup.  Shami has now broken that record.

These are the best figures of Indian bowlers in ICC finals

Mohammed Shami - 4/76 - World Test Championship Final 2021

 RP Singh - 3/26 - T20 World Cup 2007

Venkatesh Prasad - 3/27 Champions Trophy 2000 and Harbhajan Singh 3/27 Champions Trophy 2002

Team India's 30-year-old pacer Mohammed Shami, playing the 51st match of his Test career, has so far taken 184 wickets in Test cricket.  His best performance in an innings of Test cricket has been 6 for 56.  Whereas his best performance in a Test match has been 9 for 118 runs.
