For what reason was Meghan Markle disparaged for her brown complexion?
She was criticized for imagining her brown complexion was serious, when it truly wasn't important for the discussion by any stretch of the imagination. Meghan Markle is, best case scenario, about a quarter dark. Her mom, Doria Ragland, isn't completely dark herself. Her dad is a white man. She has comparable admixture to Halsey, a vocalist regularly thought to be white.
Simply examine her child — he's a pale kid, having acquired his dad's ginger hair and pale composition. Meghan Markle imagined her child's tone was some colossal serious deal. She goes about as though every time Queen Elizabeth sees the child, she sees a little African kid. Which, incidentally, couldn't in any way, shape or form be stunning to a lady who is the top of a Commonwealth of countries, by far most of which comprises of more obscure cleaned individuals.
The manner in which Meghan and Harry make the entire thing appear, the British royals never to such an extent as saw a solitary individual of color. For hell's sake, the Queen's own personal sister Prince Margaret used to date a dark artist from Grenada by the name of Leslie Hutchison
The fact remains that Harry's marriage to Meghan exposed long standing issues around racism that have been swept under the carpet for far too long in the United Kingdom.
The Queen and immediate members of the royal family might not necessarily be openly racist.
However, the unwarranted, unrelenting and constant attack that was directed towards Meghan by the British tabloids and general public once she announced her intentions to leave the royal family obviously had a racial motivation to it. Any fairly intelligent person would know this.
I don’t think I need to have my intelligence doubted by anyone for making the observations I have made, Franklin. To insinuate I am daft for failing to see the racial angle of this story Meghan and Harry so desperately try to portray, is kind of a low blow, wouldn’t you say?
The British royal family has it’s flaws and does not strike me as the warmest of friendliest bunch, bound by protocol and crippling traditions as they are. But Meghan has SHAMELESSLY insinuated her son is not a prince ‘due to his color’ when in fact none of the Queen’s other great-grandchildren have such titles, only William’s children have them.
There was a deliberate decision to lessen the number of princes and princesses which began years ago — Princess Anne, for instance, decided not to give her children titles some four decades ago. Now Meghan tries to spin the story in a way that shows supposed ‘racism’, but all it shows is her inability to grasp how the line of succession works. It’s a weak argument to say the least. Stupid at best, vindictive opportunism at worst.
Doesn’t help their case that the whole story came out the moment Meghan and Harry had their allowance cut for refusing to fulfil their ceremonial duties and moving abroad. They needed money and, oh-so-conveniently, did an Oprah interview for pity views, hard cash and some Netflix deals in the future… the interview, furthermore, was incredibly one-sided, presented the pair with ZERO hard questions and was aired as Harry’s grandfather was confined to a hospital for over three weeks with a heart condition.
From a PR perspective, the whole thing is a disaster and Harry and Meghan come out of it looking rather awful. I am pretty sure it will cost them more goodwill than it has gained them, whereas the Royal Family’s response has been a measured, classy and calm rebuttal.
