Apple is going to launch iPhone 13 Mini despite sluggish 12 Mini sales,

Some more information on the upcoming iPhones, tipped as iPhone 13, has been dropped by tipster John Prosder in his latest video. According to Prosser, Apple is committed to launching the next generation of ‘mini’ iPhone this year, which is the iPhone 13 Mini. This comes despite Apple facing sluggish sales for its current iPhone 12 Mini model. It is worth mentioning that the company will reduce the production of its 12 Mini handset, probab;y because of its poor performance in the market. It was also for the first time in years that the firm introduced a small-sized compact iPhone to cater to a part of audience that was pretty much done with large-screen phones. well.

In the video, we see the tipster mentioning that there could be a chance that Apple might not launch the next-gen iPhone SE this year. That’s because it’s gap might be fulfilled by the iPhone 13 Mini. If only Apple plans to launch an ‘SE’ iPhone this year, it might be ‘SE Plus’.

Apple iPhone 13 Mini still on the table despite lagging sales of iPhone 12 Mini

Despite low sales of the iPhone 12 Mini, sources have told noted tipster Jon Prosser that Apple will launch an iPhone 13 Mini. According to these sources, the main reason the iPhone 12 Mini floundered was the success of the iPhone SE (2020). Since no iPhone SE will launch in 2021, the iPhone 13 Mini will do markedly better.

While the iPhone 12 Mini seems to be dead in the water, that doesn’t mean we’ll never see an iPhone 13 Mini. On the contrary, Apple is making plans to produce and sell four phones in the iPhone 13 family, including the iPhone 13 Mini.

That news comes courtesy of noted leaker Jon Prosser. According to Prosser, his “sources” state that Apple is still planning an iPhone 13 Mini despite the low sales numbers of the iPhone 12 Mini.

Why would Apple continue with a new Mini iPhone when the current iteration has done so poorly? Per Prosser (and many other industry voices), the 2020 iPhone SE deeply ate into sales of the iPhone 12 Mini due to its significantly lower cost. Many customers that wanted a smaller iPhone decided to buy the iPhone SE instead of the 12 Mini, saving them $300 in the process.

It also appears that most people that would buy the iPhone 12 Mini don’t mind the (minimal) downgrade from the Mini’s A14 to the SE’s A13. These consumers may not care about 5G either, making the 12 Mini’s expensive and power-hungry 5G modem superfluous.

Apple has no plans on producing an iPhone SE for 2021, so the iPhone 13 Mini would be competing against fewer devices. As such, Apple may be forecasting stronger sales amongst those that want a smaller phone.

Keep in mind that this news is a rumor and should be treated as such. We won’t know what exactly Apple is cooking up for the iPhone 13 line until later this year.

iPhone 12 Mini comes in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage variants, priced at 69,900, 74,900 and 84,900 respectively. It has a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with 2340x1080-pixel resolution, A14 Bionic processor, dual 12-megapixel rear cameras with wide and ultra-wide sensors, 12-megapixel front camera and support for MagSafe charger.

Prosser adds that the company will continue making iPhone 13 Mini even of it has to make even lesser number of units. Not much is known about the specifications though, but rest assured, it will have similar features as the iPhone 13 except for a smaller battery and screen size. It is the same strategy that Apple has used in this year’s iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini as well.
