I hope, you read newspapers regularly other than getting glued to the TV news channels. If you do, you know what has happened in Jammu & Kashmir.
“The Silence of the Gandhis” - Soniya can do with a lot more“adjusting” the garb
Dad’s expressions reflects his disappointment
Not “Mehbooba” (meaning, Beloved) of the voter
In the recently concluded J&K District Development Council elections -
- BJP won 76 seats, out of which, 4 are in the Valley. BJP is the single largest winner.
- The PAGD (People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration) won 110 seats.
- Of the 110 won by PAGD, Mufti madam’s PDP won just 27.
- The leader of the PAGD, the Farooq Abdullah’s National Conference (NC) won 67 seats.
- Congress won just 26 places.
- This is what happened in the first democratic exercise AFTER the BJP government repealed the special status. Now you recall, what furor was created in India by all & sundry in those days against the BJP!
- The “protector” of the “special status” for 7 decades, the Congress fared MISERABLY, lower than PDP.
- No wonder “The Family” devotes its time & energy to farmers agitation. It has no guts to even talk about the election results.
- The elections went peacefully, no claims (by non-BJP parties) of rigging or violence or malpractice. Fine?
- All the parties of J &K participated, no party boycotted.
- The NC which went to the elections with the slogan “restore the special status” did not create any mass wave supporting the NC.
- BJP won 72 in Hindu majority Jammu region, it managed to win 4 in Kashmir region.
- BJP vote share is 24.6%, the largest, while NC won only 16.3%. PDP got a miserable 3.9%. Again, “our” Congress managed with only 13.7%, worse than NC.
What all the above tells you?
- BJP made a significant mark in the most troubled state in India, a good part of the “trouble” was placed by the “Freedom Fighters”, at BJP’s doorstep.
- That being the case, you can imagine what the rest of India will do with the BJP, come 2024.
