Why is Kane Williamson loved by everyone?

Genius commands admiration and humility brings adoration. Kane Williamson is a humble genius, how can he not be loved?

With the retirement of M.S Dhoni, Williamson is now world cricket’s calmest operator. As a captain, he is assured and assertive without being arrogant.

Do not confuse arrogance for intent though, because even though Williamson might appear outwardly docile, his burning desire to win permeates his every action.

Tranquil as a forest, but on fire within, that’s Kane Williamson.

In essence, he’s a warrior poet. Serene and beautiful as the sea in the dead of night, but capable of unleashing a tsunami with his bat when the hour is nigh.

Besides, humility is an overwhelmingly likeable quality, irrespective of who the person is or what they do. And in the world of cricket, few are as outwardly humble and dignified as Williamson.

Williamson’s conduct, both on and off the field is beyond reproach and has always been. He is the ideal ambassador for the Gentleman’s game.

New Zealand’s captain is perhaps far too humble to accept that moniker. He never asked to be that figure, he was anointed by observers of the game.

In all candour, in sport, qualities such as humility and grace will only get you so far. But Williamson is special because along with humility, he was a seemingly endless reservoir of poetic artistry.

When Williamson bats, time stands still, because even time can’t resist fawning at his phlegmatic yet majestic strokeplay.

At his best, Williamson bats with a refined virtuosity that seemingly elevates the art of batting.

If cricket were a painting, Williamson would be the Mona Lisa. He is beautiful to watch in action.

Ultimately, I love Kane Williamson because I love cricket. He stands for everything that is wonderful about our glorious game.

Watch him bat for an hour in any format and you will fall in love with New Zealand’s humble genius.
