I think the most important one is Japan.
Japan is very close to the main geopolitical rival of the United States for the 21st century and going forward, it is very much tied into the U.S. military alliance system, and it is one of the world’s largest economies and technological centers in its own right. And as one of the most politically conservative countries relative to the rest of the world, it is a natural ally of the United States.
If there is any one country in the world that the United States should go out of its way to maintain a friendly relationship with, it is the Land of the Rising Sun.
Close behind Japan are the UK and the other major Anglosphere nations (Canada, Australia and New Zealand) as natural allies on a linguistic and cultural basis, and with South Korea, for the same reasons as Japan. The U.S. should seek to maintain good relations with all of those countries, along with India, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.
