What do you think of casting Emma Watson as the next James Bond?
A woman shouldn’t play Bond. Bond is a man’s man. Masculinity is central to his character. He’s a misogynist — he despises, uses, and discards women. Every Bond from Connery to Craig has been this way. Remove that and Bond ceases to be Bond.
The actor who plays Bond should meet all these requirements:
- Male
- Ruggedly handsome
- Tall > 6′0 (yes, Daniel Craig was 5′10, Bond should be taller)
- British
I prefer Idris Elba or Tom Hiddleston. Elba has it all— 6′3, ruggedly handsome, British. He’s just a little old to start as Bond at 45; Craig was 37 in Casino. Hiddleston is great too— right age, 6′2, handsome, British.
But I digress. The answer to your question is: No, I don’t want Emma Watson to play Bond. Imagine Emma fighting Mr. Hicks: Train Fight Scene I just can’t see it.
