Australia and New Zealand.

We are located close enough together

Note: New Zealand is ~1,000 km closer to Sydney and Melbourne than Perth is.

- Sydney and Christchurch = 2,135 km-

 Sydney and Perth = 3,291 km 

Wehave near identical flags

(+10 points if you know which is which)

we speak the same language

We have a history of working together in hard times

But, sadly... There is one thing that is preventing the merging of these two great nations:

There is no way...

... on God's green earth...

... are we going to share that trophy.
