What can Captain America do without his shield? Why is he even considered a superhero?

Hmm.

Did you miss the scene in Captain America: The First Avenger, in which he held a motorcycle with three women sitting on it, over his head?

Did you miss the scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron, in which he threw an 800 lb (360 kg) motorcycle, over his head and about 30 feet (10 meters), taking down some bad guys?

Did you miss the scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, in which he jumped out of an airplane without a parachute?

Or how about the scene in The Avengers, in which he destroys punching bag after punching bag?

Or the scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier where he keeps lapping Sam "On your left!"

Or how about the scene in the new trailer for Captain America: Civil War, in which he holds a helicopter down?

Or how about him surviving being frozen at the bottom of the ocean for 60 years?

Even without those very clearly super-human feats, Captain America would still be a superhero. Remember when he rescued all of those soldiers?

Captain America is a natural leader. A Norse god, an egotistical playboy in a robot suit, a raging green giant, and a Russian assassin all defer to him. He didn't need that shield to earn their respect. He earned their respect because he is a hero.
