What are the most popular and tasty Indian dishes?

Few of the most popular (regional) dishes in India, but not so popular in rest of the World:

  1. Malabar Parotta

2. Laal Maas

3. Rawther Biriyani

4. Raj Katchori

5. Kutchi Dabeli

6. Chatti Pathiri (looks like lasagna but is rice based with meat or sweet filling)

7. Kallumekkaya Varuthathe (Mussels Fry)

8. Paniyaram

9. Doi Mach (Curd based Fish curry)

10. Eromba

11. Puran Poli (Sweet flat bread)

12. Rista (Meat Balls in red gravy)

13. Kesar Pista Kulfi (Saffron Pistachio frozen dairy dessert)

14. Pani Puri (one of the most popular street snack)

15. Shahi Gatte (gram flour dumplings in rich yogurt based gravy)

16. Chole Kulche (leavened bread made of maids flour with chickpeas based dish)

17. Shrikhand (strained yogurt dessert)

18. Vawksa Rep

A delicacy from Mizoram, prepared with seasoned and smoked pork.

19. Steamed Fish ( A Nagaland Special)

20. Medu Vada/ Uzhunnu Vada

These are some of the very tasty dishes of India. I have tried to include at least one dish each from each region (not state) say, East, West, Central, North, North East and South. The list is endless and cannot be comprehended by one person. These dishes are regional favorites not known outside India.

  1. The variety of cuisines one can find in India is astonishing, this explains the growing popularity of Indian cuisines. It is genuinely a well-informed substance and brilliant phrasing.
