What animal has the lowest preference for mercy?

Ever Heard of the Faroese whale hunt (Ritual) ?

Every year the shores of the seas around Faroe Island turns red with blood as fishermen hunt, kill and drag to the shore migrating pilot whales.

The whales are known to swim close to the shore during their migration annually. So the fishermen lie in wait for them, in the course of which hundreds of people swarm in to watch and marvel at the blood sport.

Dolphins who also innocently comes to the shores to play are also greeted with spikes and hooks.

These are animals that are extremely smart and can feel fear and pain butchered for sport and money.

How about the Lychee and Dog Meat Festival? It's a Chinese 10 days long annual festival held in Yulin.

It is estimated that during the course of the ten days festival about 10,000–15,000 dogs are consumed.

Throughout the 10 days of festivities, dogs are paraded in wooden crates and metal cages and are taken to be skinned and cooked for consumption by festival visitors and local residents.

The festival is held mostly because Chinese practitioners of folk medicine believe that dog meat would help ward off the heat felt through the summer months.

Dogs are extremely intelligent and sensitive animals. Have you ever scolded your dog when it does something wrong? You can see the fear, regret and guilt in its eyes and posture begging for your forgiveness.

Now imagine thousands of them being led to the slaughter of which most of them are smart enough to be aware of.

To answer the question: Humans. And did I tell you that humans kill 56 billion animals per year?
