Gary Oldman
I’ve seen him in many films without realising that one actor was behind them all.
Police Commissioner Gordon (The Dark Knight series)
Sirius Black (Harry Potter franchise)
Sid Vicious (Sid and Nancy)
Dracula (Bram Stoker’s Dracula - 1992)
George Smiley (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy)
Ivan Korshunov (Air Force One)
Belarussian Dictator Vladislav Dukhovich (The Hitman’s Bodyguard)
Mason Verger (Hannibal)
And perhaps his best role yet…I fell out of my chair after learning it was Gary Oldman behind a fat suit playing the iconic Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.
Of course appearances only make half of an actor. It’s not just about the characters, or the way he looked in each role, but the fact that he even changed his accent to suit the role. In every way a chameleon, built to act and blend in perfectly with the setting around him.
Here’s a clip showcasing some of the many roles he’s played just to prove my point.
