Monaco is the country has no poverty. Which country has no poverty?

                     Monaco.

Its pretty relative though. Living on £50 a day in developed countries can put you at a poverty level relative to the rest of the population of the country you live in. While £50 a day in developing countries could probably provide you with a decent lifestyle. Also, the “working class of Monaco,” are usually either 1.) resident of the commuter towns in France/Italy but are simply working in Monaco, or 2.) Monègasque who still continue to work in Monaco, but have been pushed out due to the exorbitant living costs in the principality. But then again, that definitely doesn’t mean they’re poor. Remember, “working class” is not the same as being under the poverty line.

It has a poverty rate of zero percent*, being attractive to millionaires, billionaires and all, thanks to tax incentives and general geography (its position on the Meditterannean says it all: good climate, scenic vistas., you name it.).

But it’s not all sugar and spice. The ”working class of Monaco” commute daily. You know, the ones who keep the city clean and provide essential services to the city. The city doesn’t clean itself, and those rich folks don’t get served magically by some miracle worker. These yachts don’t park themselves.

And yes, commuting is plausible. See that small strip outlined in red? That’s the entire country, and it is around 2 miles from end to end.

Thing is, many of the working class in Monaco can’t afford the exorbitant rent prices, hence they’ve been pushed out to the fringes. Working class people who have used to work there have been pushed out as well.

*at least by the global definition of $1.90/day. Then again, seeing a homeless person in Monaco is a rare sight, and a third of the residents earn at least $1,000,000 a year.
