Is Donald Trump's political career effectively over?

Donald Trump's ambition was to continue to carry weight in politics in order to be able to run for office in 2024.

He refused to concede defeat in order to continue to raise funds by keeping his loyal and united base around him. It worked for a while. However, Donald Trump crossed the red line on January 6, 2021, when he encouraged his most radical supporters to take Capitol Hill to claim victory.

A President of the United States cannot afford to let the citadel of American democracy be attacked in this way.

The majority of GOP members have decided to let him go now in the face of such infamy.

Donald Trump still has a very large following, but he will be released inside the GOP. It will be difficult for him to continue to carry weight in the GOP. Others will try to follow him to take advantage of his popularity from now on.

I think why not Ted Cruz.

Donald Trump also risks being sued by the State of New York as soon as he leaves the White House on January 20, 2021. The situation will become untenable for him.
