Do animals know humans are dangerous?

**Many have complained that the elephant photo was fake, It is from a video, so I thought I would post two more photos in the series. **

Yes they do. Take the wolf for example. They are huge apex predators, reaching up to 180 lbs. with a biteforce of 1200 PSI. A lone wolf can easily take down a human, and a pack is deadly, but they choose to avoid such confrontations. Why? Because we have the great equalizer, the gun, and we do hunt them.

They teach their pups to fear us and evade us. We are their primary predator.

**Edit** Here is the story behind the pictures above.

On March 16, 2012, a Friday, a US Forest Service employee from Grangeville, Idaho, laid out his wolf traps. The following Monday, using the name “Pinching,” he posted his story and pictures on Trapperman.com . “I got a call on Sunday morning from a FS [Forest Service] cop that I know. You got one up here as there was a crowd forming. Several guys had stopped and taken a shot at him already,” wrote Pinching. The big, black male wolf stood in the trap, some 300-350 yards from the road, wounded—the shots left him surrounded by blood-stained snow. Pinching concluded his first post, “Male that went right at 100 pounds. No rub spots on the hide, and he will make me a good wall hanger.”

Most other wild animals fear us for the same reason.

Our pets do not fear us, but they give us a lot of respect. Some have learned that we can be very cruel, and those pets fear us. I will not post pictures of other animal abuse because Quora will not allow pictures from the Yulin dog meat festival, vivisection, and more, but know it happens, and the pictures are disturbing.
