Did Jennifer Lawrence work her butt off to become who she is right now?

Yes, I would say so. No, she doesn’t have a theater education, but that’s a fairly large group that includes Christian Bale, Jim Carrey, Joaquin Phoenix, Heath Ledger, and Natalie Portman.

Like all those, I just mentioned Jennifer Lawrence started acting before she was in college, and by the time she would have gone to college there was no point; she was already famous and making tons of money.

She’s certainly fortunate but her path is pretty standard. She was cast on a show at a young age (that was in need of a young actor). That notoriety, which is minor in the scope of things, is enough to get an actor considered for larger projects. She leveraged that to get her in smaller films. She had a breakout role in Winter’s Bone, a film that got a lot of critical praise, and parlayed that into big budget movies like X-Men: First Class and The Hunger Games.

When you do the math, she’s spent a lot of hours on set. Probably well over the infamous 10,000 you need for mastery (a theory I don’t readily subscribe to, but the point still stands). Set days are long too - especially when you’re just starting out. So, yes, she has worked hard. Maybe she hasn’t worked as hard as some, but I’m willing to bet she’s a top 1% when it comes to the amount of work she has dedicated to acting.
