Despite all that you read- A Beautiful Article after Dangal which revealed that Aamir Khan received 264 Crores for the movie clearly shows that Most Actors in Bollywood these days - Dont quote a fee for their films but rake a big chunk of profit if the film does well.
Actors like Akshay or Salman or Aamir have constantly been taking Contingency based fees for all their films. They generally act for Free or a token fee with 25 - 40% share in many of the profits the producer makes like Global Rights or Producer Share etc.
Best part is when the Producer makes a loss, these Actors they also dont get any money.
Aamir took no fee for Thugs of Hindostan, Salman took no fee for Tubelight
Actors who believe in percentage of profits include - Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and even Saif Ali Khan who has not got a Rupee in Fees for any movie (Except the Token fees) after Cocktail (Though he has a different fee schedule for OTT Platforms).
Yet you still have Ranbir Kapoor or SRK or Ayushman Khurana who believe in Flat Fees. They demand higher fees if you have a hit.
Ayushman got his first fee in 2012 of Rs. 25 Lakhs and as of 2020 charges Rs. 12 Crores per Film.
He did go for the Percentage Profit rule for his latest Shubh Mangal Zyaada Savdhaan and GUlaabo Sitaabo but did not earn a rupee (Apart from the Token Advances) for both films.
Though he is not from Bollywood - Superstar Rajinikanth quoted 7 Crore for Chandramukhi which was the highest fee by any Actor who was not from Mumbai
The Actor later actually felt guilty of asking such a high fee but the Producers made a whopping profit of almost 15 Crores even after paying Rajinikanth and Rajinikanth was miffed and annoyed.
Subsequently he started hiking his fees enormously and began the concept of Contingency fee in the south with Sivaji (8 Cr Actual + 8 Cr Contingency)
Why i am mentioning Rajinikanth is that it is not just after giving a hit that they raise their fees. They raise their fees because they feel - The producer made monkeys out of them.
