Her character Daenarys Targaryen was bigger than her.
I just want to start off by saying Emilia seems to be a truly lovely woman. She conducts herself in interview with kindness and grace.
I also really liked the character in game of thrones.
I saw the terror she was going to become 5 miles away and I don’t understand why so many people were shocked at the terror she became at the end.
I thought that Daenerys Targaryen was an incredibly well written character. However, I think the character and writing of the story
as well as the incredible performances of the actors who played Jamie, Cersei, Tyrion, and at times Jon and countless others
really carried her performance in the show.
If you had to ask me by far the finest actors of show who played by Cersei, Tyrion, Varys, and that guy who played Ramsey Bolton (rheon).
I think even the performance of Theon Greyjoy was very compelling.
Emilia, in my humble opinion, is a solid actress. She just isn’t incredible.
She did her job well. With a great story, a very well written character, and solid directors (if you’re excluding the final season).
However I don’t believe that she is a stand alone actress that is going to demand tickets in a movie.
I’m talking about her raw acting talent. Her ability to make you feel what she feels. To suck you into a screen and make you forget your watching a film.
As much as Scarlett Johansson is used as eye candy in movies, watch her monologue on the lawyers couch in “the marriage story”
I have nothing in common with her character. Not by gender, race, upbringing, nothing, but when she spoke about the struggles of being a neglected woman with a loss identity to a powerful and successful husband I both felt and knew everything she said.
That is the power of great acting.
Emilia, as far as I have seen, just doesn’t have that. I’d love to say she maybe didn’t have the opportunity but she had 8 seasons on game of thrones and she never drew me in like a number of other great actors and actresses on GOT.
In my humble opinion, I believe her character was just bigger than her.
Its the power of being the main character, being good looking, and playing a powerful woman who was an underdog. Its hard not to love her character.
Emilia is a very solid actor, I just don’t think she is great.
