I think its pretty sexist to be honest.
This was an old answer draft, so I am answering it right now. But about a year ago Elizabeth Banks released a movie called Charlie’s Angels
That movie flopped, and Elizabeth Banks (the director) blamed the failure because men didnt watch it.

But that is completely false. The reason why people didnt like Charlie’s Angel is because the film is genuinely not good.
Because turns out, the women didnt even want to watch Charlie’s Angels too.
Not only that, but Elizabeth Banks said that the only reason why Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman worked was because they were superheroes which are in the male genre.
But if that is the case, then why did a lot of people watch Hunger Games?
or the original Frozen?
But even then, Charlie’s Angel is a bad “feminist” movie.
I am going to be comparing this to Birds of Prey
The reason why I BARELY liked this movie and barely gave this movie a 6.5 out of 10 is because the fight scenes, visuals and at least the majority of the protagonists were likeable. I liked Harley Quinn, Renee Montoya, and Huntress. Cassandra Cain is totally terrible and sucks.
But my favorite DCEU female character is Black Canary, and she’s female empowerment done right.
She’s super friendly, kicks ass, but also not stupidly overpowered. Every time she uses her power she immediately gets exhausted and is weakened.
Yeah, I totally hate how Birds of Prey kind of treats all men like garbage, but at LEAST they made likeable characters and has cool visuals. Also, the fight scenes were genuinely good.
But Charlie’s Angels isnt like that. Its what everyone expects from a trashy feminist movie. It makes all men evil, but instead of making up for it with cool action scenes or likeable characters, its just bland and forced pandering.
I am not trying to be mean, but at least I can remember Birds of Prey fight scenes. If anything, guys totally like fight scenes. But this movie just doesnt have any memorable scenes or characters.
I also want to mention that the only thing interesting about the protagonists is that they’re girls. That’s it.
Birds of Prey may have been a flawed feminist movie, but at least its a decent movie because the characters were genuinely likeable and developed and also cool (with exception of Cassandra Cain and Victor Zzaass).
I genuinely like Black Canary, Harley Quinn, and Huntress. They are their own people who are developed and genuinely likeable. But I dont like any of the characters in Charlie’s Angels.
No, Charlie’s Angels did not flop because of sexism. It flopped because of the bad reviews, and it was a genuinely bland, boring movie.
