How do famous big name Hollywood actors maintain a high standard of wealth after their film career?

In a word, booze. George Clooney made $239 million between June 1, 2017, and June 1, 2018, despite not starring in a film since 2016. Most of that came from selling his stake in the tequila company, Casamigos.

Perhaps taking a cue from director Francis Ford Coppola’s winery and several wealthy rappers who got in on the celebrity booze game, there are a growing number of actors who have made the leap.

Here are 7 actors who put their name and money behind alcohol brands.

George Clooney hasn’t starred in a movie since 2016—here’s why he’s still the highest-paid actor on earth

George Clooney was the highest-paid actor in the world, having earned $239 million between June 1, 2017 and June 1, 2018. According to Forbes, Clooney made roughly twice as much as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the second highest-paid actor, during this time period.

In June of 2017, Clooney’s tequila company, Casamigos, announced that Diageo—British multinational alcoholic beverages company— had agreed to pay close to $1 billion for the brand.

Dan Aykroyd Launched His Vodka Brand, Crystal Head in 2007

In 2007, together with artist John Alexander, Dan Aykroyd launched Crystal Head, a pure vodka free of additives, glycerol, citrus oil or sugars encased in a crystal skull (designed from an actual human skull) said to symbolizing life, power and enlightenment.

IN their first decade of business they sold close to approximately 20 million bottles worldwide.

Ryan Reynolds Bought a Stake In Aviation Gin, Cashes In On Celebrity Liquor Rush

In 2017 Ryan Reynolds got in on the celebrity liquor game, buying a stake in craft distiller Aviation Gin.

Reynolds was the world’s 15th highest-paid actor back in 2017, and perhaps the first celebrity to invest in a gin company (rather than vodka or tequila). No one will go on record as what percentage of Aviation Gin he acquired or the sale price. But he’s considered a “significant owner."

Aaron Paul And Bryan Cranston Debut New Mezcal, Dos Hombres

Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston, the critically-acclaimed "Breaking Bad" actors, are working together again. But this time, it’s a mezcal company called Dos Hombres.

Dos Hombres is the product of multiple generations of proud Mezcal producers from the small village of San Luis del Rio, in a remote section of Oaxaca. With the blessing of the rich soil and adequate rainfall, the best agaves in the world are cultivated.

Matthew McConaughey’s Longbranch Whiskey

When Matthew McConaughey became creative director at Wild Turkey - he teamed up with their master distiller Eddie Russell to collaborate on Longbranch - a small-batch Kentucky bourbon.

McConaughey said in the company’s press release, "Longbranch, in its simplest form, is an extended hand, inviting a friend into your family. So the branch that was extended to me from the Russells was a long one, one that reached from Kentucky to Texas and back again. I offered the Mesquite from my great state to add to their legendary Kentucky whiskey and together we made Longbranch."

Danny Devito Limoncello?!?

It’s probably safe to say Danny DeVito is the only Hollywood celebrity with a limoncello brand, which he launched in 2007, not long after a tipsy appearance on US daytime TV that he attributed to a few too many glasses of the sweet Italian liqueur. DeVito’s Premium Limoncello is made in Italy, from Sorrento lemons grown on the Amalfi coast.
