How did John Krasinski get so famous?

John Krasinski has had a near-constant presence in our lives for 15 years.

It certainly didn’t hurt that he played Jim Halpert in 188 episodes of The Office (2005–2013). The Office had (and still has) a rabid cult-like fanbase.

It also helps that your character is celebrated both as a .gif and a meme for over a decade. It practically makes you inescapable on the

While The Office moved on to syndication (for all eternity), roles like Jack Silva in 13 Hours (2016) helped to reposition him as a dramatic leading actor.

Then he went and co-wrote, directed and starred in (alongside his wife Emily Blunt) a horror film that was a hit right out of the gate in April 2018.

A Quiet Place was made for ~$20 million, debuted to $50.2 million, topping the box office and marking the biggest opening for a Paramount film in a decade.

It ended its theatrical run with a worldwide total of $340.7 million. Now it haunts us in our homes.

A Quiet Place Part II was ready to roll out in late March but the release was postponed due to the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic.

And if that wasn’t enough he’s also Jack Ryan in Amazon Prime’s TV series Jack Ryan. A legacy role that’s been previously portrayed by no less than Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine.

The series already has two seasons on the streaming network and was renewed for a third in early 2019.

And as a cherry on top John K launched a new YouTube channel ‘Some Good News’ to combat coronavirus despair.

John Krasinski, best known for playing Jim Halpert on NBC’s The Office, is back behind a desk and talking into a camera — this time, in a video on his new YouTube channel dedicated to sharing good news.

The show is exactly what it sounds like: Krasinski will talk about a few heartwarming, good stories that people might be looking for right now while stuck at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are stories about the support cities around the world have shown health care workers from their own apartments, clapping and cheering out their windows. There are stories about a homeowner making a delivery driver’s day by leaving gifts on the porch. There are even stories about a man who purchased 100 lobsters in Maine to help a local fisherman. It’s an adorable video, made all the cuter by Krasinski’s sincerity.

“I’m John Krasinski, and if it isn’t clear yet, I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing,” he says.
