Has a celebrity ever randomly sat down next to you?

It wasn’t a random encounter and certainly not a “celebrity” by today’s measure of the word, but an established film actress.

I was sitting in the waiting area in my Holistic Health retreat when Bryce Dallas Howard came in. I had been looking forward to meeting her, she was my 11:15 appointment for that day.

I was certainly a little eager to meet her. I adore her acting skills and enjoyed the roles she’s played. Especially in season 3 of Black Mirror.

Exceptional work!

I greeted her, she sat down and chatted a bit (helps to establish a level of comfort when meeting a new client). I found her vibe to very sweet and humble. She is exactly like you would imagine, naturally beautiful, kind and gracious. I like to compliment others in a subtle way (although sometimes it comes out wrong). I tried to genuinely express my gratitude for her achievements in film. She was very receptive but had to correct me twice on the title of one of her movies:

“I really enjoyed Lady in the lake”

“It’s Lady in the water” she sweetly replied:

Two seconds later…

“Lady in the lake was directed by M. Night?”

Bryce patiently correcting me again:

“Lady in the water”

I’ll just shut up now.

It’s not easy being an actress and dealing with people who get the titles of their movies wrong, I guess?

Another lovely actress I literally almost ran into was Andie MacDowell.

Same Holistic Health retreat as when I met Mrs. Howard.

I rounded a corner, passing our meditation trail (small trail lined by rocks and blessed by a shaman) and almost ran into MacDowell. Startled I looked up and saw her slowly pacing, hands in pockets with a soft sweater neatly wrapped around her shoulders. She almost floated gracefully like an ethereal goddess. Her beauty and presence were captivating. It was almost as if she leapt right off the movie screen and into real life before my eyes.

For those of you who don’t know her, look up the movie Groundhog Day.

The only think I could think of to say?

“Wow! You’re really beautiful “

She reflected back to me the warmest smile while saying,

“Well thank you, you’re so sweet” in a cute, almost southern twang.

I thought my comment was really, very, surprisingly stupid (even for me) so I quickly walked off to my next appointment.

I was requested to work on her that evening, it was a last minute call as I was leaving. However, I’m a single mom and had to pick up my little one at a certain time. I’m positive that would have been a cool experience.

That was an interesting year for me. I never really enjoyed being around models, actors and producers. The ultra wealthy can be very grateful and kind people. Some are not so chill and those are the times I wish to click my heels three times and get the Hell home!

I suppose I’ve mostly had positive encounters, in general, clients are happy to see me. I now have my own business in a swinging little town and have been “celebrity” free for many years. I’m quite content working with folks just like me, and those are my most rewarding experiences.

This was almost ten years ago and I would never want to disrespect a client. I cannot go into detail about the place or treatments performed. I will say, a lot of film and music stars go there to naturally cleanse the impurities out of their system, in order to look amazing on camera.
