Worst dishes from your country, in your opinion

WARNING: DO NOT READ THIS Article BEFORE, DURING AND RIGHT AFTER A MEAL!

Note: These dishes are quite hard to encounter in China, especially in major cities, and please don’t think that Chinese are babarians bacause of the answer. There are far more delicious dishes in China and few of them are shown at the bottom. We hope more people can visit China and enjoy a tasty trip here.

I’m Chinese, and many people think that some Chinese dishes are horrible (like century eggs, which I like very much), though many others are delicious. Well, there’s some dishes that I think is completely unreasonable.

1. Eggs boiled by Children’s Urine. Yeah, kids’ piss. Horrible. It is said that these eggs can improve your heart and lungs. Bleh. They say the eggs are just salty but I’ll never eat any.

2. Cow-dung Hotpot. The hotpot is made of semi-digested grass and herbs taken from cows’ stomach. It’s a top-grade dish for guests in southeastern Guizhou. The hotpot is said to help your digestion. Urghhhh.

3. Chicken Embryo. Eggs again, but this time with no piss but embryos. These are boiled eggs with embryos inside it, and when you split it apart you can see the embryo inside it. TCM says that the eggs can help cure headache. Modern analysis shows that these eggs contains more hormone. Arghhhh I wanna throw up…

4. Three Squeaks, which are little mice just born. The dish gets its name because the mice squeak when you pick them up with chopsticks, dip them in the sauce and bite them. The dish is listed as one of the ten Banned Chinese Dishes(not official) because it’s too cruel. I’ll try to introduce all the ten dishes if I have much spare time but I don’t think it’s possible. Chemistry Olympaid takes a lot of time.

5. All the dishes made from endangered animals. No pictures here because there are too many of them and some of them are pretty tasty. But I think it’s wrong to kill the endangered animals just for comforting your stomach. The most famous ones are shark fins and pangolins. Some people estimate that over 10 species in China are extinct or endangered because of eating them.

Eat to extinction, man, SERIOUSLY????

Eating endangered animals makes me really angry.

As for the insects, I think it’s still ok. I’ve seen so many episodes of Man VS Wild, after all.

After so many nasty pictures, let’s have a look at some more common and delicious Chinese food.

Shrimp dumplings, from Guangdong

Dongpo Pork, from Zhejiang

Steamed Shizi Tou(Lion’s head, but actually just pork meatball), from Jiangsu

Peking Duck, from Beijing

Chili Boiled Beef, from Sichuan

Chongqing Street noodles, from Chongqing, of course

Nang, from Xinjiang

Lanzhou Beef noodles, from Gansu

And there’re still tens of thousands of delicious dishes in China

a. I hope more people can come to China and enjoy all these delicious food!

More to come if I have time, both horrible and delicious ones.

Thanks for Reading
