What are the reviews of UPES Dehradun?

When my friend was looking for reviews to choose my university, He read this somewhere that UPES is one of the most dynamic universities in India, remarkably changing the Indian higher education landscape. Honestly, he thought that was a little too much but two years later as a student here, He have the same review to share with you all. Here’s what he think makes it a good university that all should consider:

1. Choices for all: It offers multiple courses across 8 different schools/disciplines – engineering, design, business, law, media, computer science, health sciences and agriculture. They have recently added 2 new schools – School of modern media & School of Smart agriculture, living up to their goal of bringing industry worthy transformation.

2. Campus: It is a walk through nature and mountains, situated in the beautiful city of Dehradun. It is a new age tech-enabled campus with all the necessary amenities for the course you choose. For the fun part, UPES has a vibrant campus life complete with multiple engaging yet learning events, such as entrepreneurial summits, hackathons, and workshops. Then there are fests throughout the year (don’t worry, we study hard, play harder). Consequently, students get to participate in a lot of extracurricular activities that eventually adds up for their greater good.

3. Internships and placements with impeccable industry connect: The University is industry aligned, which paves the way for good networking, learning and opportunities. There are courses that are co-created with organizations like Microsoft, and some science students have even interned with ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization). In terms of placements, recruiters like Infosys, Tata, Accenture turn up at the campus and the success rate was 94% last year (I’ll testify this better when I land my dream job :D)

4. Success stories: The alumni network of UPES is huge. Many of them have started their own ventures. The fact that UPES offers you support even after your graduation to help you with your start-ups or your higher education really adds to your confidence when you step out there in the world.

5. Committed to women empowerment: This is a personal reason why I really respect my university and it may not be applicable for all but I think it’s great of them to provide such an empowering space for women. It has been their ethos from the very start. To provide foundation to this cause and take it further, they have launched SHAKTI program which provides 25% scholarship to girl students. Definitely check it out, girls: https://upesforshakti.upes.ac.in/

6. UPES Cares: Last but not the least, the way they are handling the current pandemic situation is commendable. Not just online classes and continuous academic support, the students even have an option for counselling for emotional support as we adjust to the new reality. For the next batch too, they have detailed and simplified the learning processes for an immersive experience as they virtually begin their college journey. You can read more about that here: IMMERSIVE ACADEMIC LEARNING

All this college talk is making me miss it even more today, and I truly can’t wait to go back! Hope I’ll be seeing some of you there. Here’s a little glimpse of what awaits you :)
