I will not say that these are some kind of scams, but certain practices that revolve around the weight loss industry very dominantly, such that a lot of new beginners or people who don't have the proper knowledge about how nutrition and the human body works tend to follow these tips in order to lose weight,

Which are totally not required to lose weight, in fact, in some cases, it does bad for the body.

1.Eliminate carbohydrates from your diet to lose weight(You need carbs for many of your body functions, from your brain to other parts of your body, they require glucose to function which again comes from carbs.

Thus never eliminate carbs from your diet, as carbs are the most preferred consumed food for all of us, thus try to balance it with some fiber, protein, and healthy fats, which is reduce some amount of carbs and consume it with other essential nutrients to make it a balanced meal.
But never eliminate it from your diet, just strike the correct balance according to your body needs.

2.Low fat dairy is better than full-fat dairy(Again very big scam being run by the companies to produce another line of products and sell it to make some more money, the only dairy that you should be going for is the dairy in its natural form which is full-fat dairy, like low-fat dairy taste really bad, so these companies add sugar to make it more edible in taste which again put more dent on your health, thus you don't have to be too fancy and go with the basic normal things.

4.Olive oil is the best oil for cooking

If you are living in India or any other country, try to eat/consume the oils which are local and regional to the location you live in,

for eg in south India, people use coconut oil to cook food, and when we move slightly up in north India, there is peanut, mustard oil used for cooking.
Thus you can use those local and usually available oils for cooking or desi ghee as well.

but thinking that olive oil is the best oil to cook and helps in weight loss is something not true(it is just clever marketing)

5.Desi ghee will make you fat(Desi ghee is kind of one of the best food on the planet which suits almost every person in terms of digestion and assimilation of nutrients of desi ghee.

9.You just have to be strict/restrictive for 3 months to lose weight, once you lose weight you can come back to your normal routine.
