The healthiest poor man’s meal to eat every day

Back in 2015, when I started a business after quitting a fancy corporate job I was living in a very frugal manner. I was saving money so that I could contribute to the business.

I had savings but I allocated most of it for business and a small amount for personal expenses. During finance allocation, I realized it's going to hit my daily lifestyle so I took a small loan from family. I took the minimum money from them and forecasted my monthly expense at Rs. 7000 (including rent).

I used my credit card and paid for a 6-month gym membership, prepaid mobile charges, etc.

Since there was no income I would skip breakfast and have lunch at 12.00 or 1.00 pm. I would have lunch or dinner for Rs. 30–40 from a roadside stall.

If someone invited me for lunch/dinner I would become super happy because of FREE food. I would say to myself that “I don't have to spend money today”, and I would relish every ounce of the meal.

I was not following a systematic diet like people do when they join the gym but I was eating a lot of Sattu and groundnuts. These are cheap food products packed with proteins, fibre and essential fat.

I would say that for a period of 12 months I lived like a poor man and my favourite pick was these 2 items.

If you want to understand how I looked like back in 2015, two pics for reference.
