Despite all that you’ve been taught or heard about the best weight loss management system, most of it is completely wrong. What you really need more than anything else is some basic education about how the body works and a change of mindset.

The science behind weight management is not as complex as you think, but one of the basic concepts you should learn is the difference between the number of calories a person consumes and the number of calories that same person is able to burn. This is common known as Energy Balance, or Energy homeostasis.

Another concept to learn about your body is your body’s metabolism, and your body mass index (BMI). Once you understand these, and how your body reacts to certain foods, diets, conditions, and activities such as exercise, you’re halfway there.

One thing you must understand though, is that weight loss is a journey, and it can sometimes take a long time depending on your BMI, metabolism, mindset and determination.

Despite what you have no doubt heard about losing 30 lbs in 15 days or losing your your belly fat in 30 days, or flattening your belly in 20 days or less, if you lose weight at that rate you may certainly die. You should not upset your body rapidly.

Most of it is actually pure crap. Besides, majority of them are either fads or outright scams. And the companies that market these diet products or programs are not complaining because they’re making a kill off of unsuspecting victims.

Shocking but true…

Despite this gloomy picture, many people are going back to the past, to try and explore what actually worked with nature, many millenniums ago.

Much research by large nutrition companies and government agencies has gone into this for good reason—research shows that ancient humans lived longer, and enjoyed healthier, happier lifestyles.

No doubt, our lifestyle and diet plays a key role in our health and the prevention of diseases.

One of the most deadly diseases affecting humans in our modern times, is not even diabetes, hypertension, cancer, heart disease or even kidney failure—It’s OBESITY.

In fact, obesity has been declared an epidemic. Ironically, obesity is directly associated with all these diseases mentioned above.

A Lesson from the Ancient World

Interestingly, ancient people lived longer and did not suffer from obesity. Probably because they were mostly active, but more compelling is the fact that they lived much better lifestyles than we do—they ate healthy, natural and nutritious food, they didn’t smoke or drink coffee or eat junk food, they didn’t eat food laden with chemicals, and of course, they didn’t have TVs, microwaves or refrigerators.

The problems of weight gain are precipitated by bad nutrition and poor eating habits—junk food and lack of activity and exercise. Of course, modern lifestyles like smart phones, the Internet and social media, and watching too much TV have exacerbated the problem.

IN fact, the problem is not because nutritious food is not available in the market. The problem is that we’re making poor nutrition choices. We also totally lack nutrition education. Lack of nutrition education is a serious issue—In fact, I suggest nutrition education should be included and made compulsory in our school curriculums.

When we talk about weight loss and obesity we cannot run away from the thorny and controversial issue of diet. IT’S therefore no secret that the obesity problem has it’s roots in lifestyle.

How can we Remedy the Situation?

By changing our lifestyle choices, educating ourselves and changing our eating habits, we can achieve great results in our health status and help our bodies to combat many illnesses and problems.

In recent times, one of the most effective diet lifestyles that has taken the world by storm is the KETO Diet, and for good reason.

Interestingly, ancient people ate lots of fat but didn’t get sick.

The KETO Diet is a way to return back in time and adopt a lifestyle that ancient people lived by.

What is KETO Diet?

Ketogenic Diet, also known as the Keto Diet, is a high-fat, low-carbohydrate regimen.

The theory behind the high-fat, low carbohydrate ratio is that the body will rely on fat for energy instead of carbohydrates, and therefore the body will become leaner, as a result of having less fat stored in the body.

Preferably, the Keto Diet allows the body to go into ketosis — a metabolic state where ketones (fats), are burned for energy instead of glucose (carbohydrates), commonly referred to as “low-carb”.

How Does it Work?

Adherents of the Keto Diet follow a strict routine of low-carb, high fat diet and also consume just the right amount of protein that the body needs on a daily basis.

The Keto Diet deviates from some of the other popular diets that are in existence. Instead of focusing on counting calories, the Keto Diet is centered on the content of fat, carbohydrate, and protein make-up of the food, as well as on the weight of the food portions.

What led to the creation of the Keto Diet?

The Ketogenic Diet was developed in 1924 by a Mayo Clinic doctor called Russell Wilder, in the hope of finding a treatment for epilepsy. Many patients of epilepsy and other illnesses reported a noticeable decline in their symptoms, after going on the Keto Diet.

This was nothing new. In Ancient Greece, doctors would change their patients' diets and even put them on a fast, forcing their bodies to go into ‘starvation mode’. This was tough, but the effects were noticeable.

The Ketogenic Diet is a much easier way of putting the body into the ‘fasting mode’, and therefore, go into ketosis, without actually depriving the body of food.

To-date, however, no one knows exactly why the Ketogenic Diet is so effective in helping patients who suffer from epilepsy, autism, and other known illnesses — or weight loss for that matter.

Why Choose the Ketogenic Diet?

Over the last few decades, the Ketogenic Diet has grown so much in popularity, as researchers found that there are many health benefits for adopting the Ketogenic Diet. Initially, there were speculations that the Keto diet would cause a cholesterol build-up in the body, and thus, lead to other problems such as heart disease due to the high-fat content of the foods that people on the diet could consume.

However, as more experts looked into the diet, they have concluded that there are inherent advantages for beginning the Keto Diet.

What are the Health Benefits of the KETO Diet?

  • For one, the body is able to utilize fat instead of carbohydrates for energy use. Therefore, the body will not rely on carbohydrates since there is a very low amount of carbohydrates entering the body, thus, the body is able to store ketones (the fats), instead of carbs for later energy use.
  • A second benefit is that the body will not be as hungry, and people on the Keto Diet are therefore at a lower risk of falling off their regimen by eating impulsively. Snacks, candy, and junk food are the common culprits here.
  • Since the Keto Diet encourages the consumption of various protein-rich foods which work to curb hunger, the body goes into the state of ketosis—which is common among people who fast regularly, as the body doesn’t need a lot of food to keep it going. What better way to be on a healthy diet and not have constant food cravings?
  • Finally, the health benefits presented by the Keto Diet are amazing. People who are on the Keto Diet completely eliminate carbohydrates, by avoiding foods rich in starch such as breads and pastas, and substituting them with non-starch vegetables such as broccoli, asparagus, carrots, and many others that are rich in vitamins and nutrients.

By switching to vegetables which are packed with vitamins and nutrients that support a healthy body, and are also much lower in calories, you can completely change your health status and achieve remarkable results.

In addition to aiding those who suffer from illnesses such as epilepsy, weight gain and obesity, the Keto Diet is recommended for cancer patients.

Furthermore, research has shown that, cancer cells flourish in areas of the body where there is a lot of glucose—which is what carbohydrates really become. If the body consumes less carbohydrates, there will therefore be less glucose in the body, and subsequently, the cancer cells will not be able to grow and flourish.

In Conclusion

The question is what is the best weight loss diet. Well, if you have tried other contemporary weight loss diet plans, which did not work for you, perhaps now is the time to try out the Ketogenic Diet.

I know, perhaps you’ve tried many diet pills, nutrition supplements, and a myriad other weight loss ‘magic’ pills which promised to burn fat, give you a lean body and a flat belly in 7 days—which did not work, of course.

After spending a ton of money on worthless promises which did not yield results, don’t you think it’s time that you took control of your body—and for that matter, your health?

The secret to adopting the Ketogenic lifestyle is hidden in the numerous KETO recipes, resources and cookbooks easily found online, and there are tons of them.
