5 Sizzling Non-Alcoholic Drinks To Serve At Your Diwali Party

It's the time to feast, indulge and make merry. Diwali is here today and the mere thought of festive delicacies is taking our excitement to whole new heights. Be it kaju katli, soan papdi, chakli, namkeen or salted cashews, there are countless treats we have grown up associating Diwali with. However, we rarely give full due to the drinks served at every Diwali party, especially if they are non-alcoholic. But let's admit it; there've been a range of mocktails and mixes that have made Diwali a memorable affair for us. A festive meal cannot ever be complete without some good drinks to accompany. If you are hosting a Diwali party at home this year, here are five amazing drinks you can serve at your party:

1. Watermelon Mocktail

Watermelon Mocktail is a delicious mocktail drink made with watermelon, grapes, pomegranate seeds, honey and dates syrup. A refreshing and delicious drink, it is a yummy drink for any time.

Ingredients:

  • Watermelon – 250 gms
  • Ginger – 1/2 inch piece
  • Black grapes – 150 gms
  • Pomegranate Seeds – 1 cup
  • Honey – 1 tsp
  • Dates Syrup – 1 tsp
  • Mint Leaves – few
  • Black Salt – 3 tsp
  • Fried Cumin Powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Lemon Juice – 1 tsp

Method:

  1. Peel the outer skin of the ginger and wash it well.
  2. Take a blender and add the watermelon pieces, black grapes, pomegranate seeds, and water.
  3. Grind it well.
  4. Add the honey, dates syrup, black salt, fried cumin powder and lemon juice.
  5. Give it a blend and pour the juice in a tall glass.
  6. Sprinkle the mint leaves on top for extra flavour.

2. Blueberry Lemonade

Ingredients:
Lemon – 1, big
Blueberries – 3 cups
Sugar – 1/2 cup, granulated
Soda Water – 2 cups
Lemon Juice – 1 1/2 tblsp
Mint Leaves – few, to garnish

Method:
1. Peel the lemon rind from the lemons.
2. Heat a pan over medium flame.
3. Add the lemon rind, blueberries, sugar and 1 tblsp water.
4. Bring to a boil.
5. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes over low flame and strain into a pitcher (or any container).
6. Cover with a plastic wrap and keep it in the fridge for 2 to 3 hours.
7. Add the soda and lemon juice.
8. Stir gently and pour into ice filled glasses.
9. Garnish with a mint leaf.
9. Serve chilled.

3. Rose lemonade

Ingredients:

  • 2 pints of water or soda water. Either of these works quite well.
  • Juice from 6 lemons, freshly squeezed for good flavour
  • 4 to 6 oz. caster sugar, adjust to your own taste
  • 1 tsp. rose water
  • Sprigs of fresh mint for garnishing
  • Fresh raspberries

Method:

  1. Use a large pitcher in order to mix the water, juice, sugar and rosewater together.
  2. You should mix everything until all of the sugar has dissolved. This will ensure that the lemonade is properly mixed and offers a great, refreshing taste.
  3. Use a large spoon to make sure that you are able to reach down to the bottom of the pitcher.
  4. Place the pitcher in the fridge to chill until its cold enough to serve. You also want to make sure that the lemonade is properly refrigerated when not being served to help maintain freshness.
  5. Have crushed ice ready when serving to keep the lemonade even cooler and make it that bit more special.
  6. The fresh mint can be used to garnish the lemonade, and add just a hint of extra flavour.
  7. Serve with your favourite summer meals, such as barbeque, or alone, as a refreshing treat on a warm day.

4. Lemon Mojito

Ingredients:
Mint Leaves – 12 + extra for garnish
Lemon Juice – 2 tblsp
Soda – 1/2 cup
Sugar as required
Salt – a small pinch
Ice Cubes as required
Slices of Lemon to garnish

Method
1. Bring 1 cup of water to boil and switch off the flame.
2. Add the mint leaves and cover with a lid for 3 minutes.
3. Strain the liquid into another container.
4. Mix lemon juice, sugar and salt.
5. Add this to the strained water and mix well.
6. Add soda and ice cubes.
7. Garnish with mint leaves and lemon slices if desired.
8. Serve at once.

5. Strawberry Lemonade

Ingredients:
Strawberries – 1 cup, hulled, chopped
Sugar – 3 tblsp
Zest of 1/2 Lemon (large)
Soda (or Plain Water) – 500 ml
Ice Cubes as desired
Slices of Lemon for garnish

Method:
1. Combine the strawberries, sugar and lemon zest in a bowl.
2. Mash well using the back of a spoon and keep aside for 10 to 20 minutes.
3. Adjust sugar or lemon juice and keep it in the fridge for 2 hours.
4. Just before serving, pour the soda or water and stir well.
5. Garnish with lemon slices and serve at once.
