The Vande Mataram

Do you know that Great personality
BankimChandraChattopadhyay wrote the National Song Vande Mataram at Chinsurah, Hooghly in West Bengal. The house he wrote this song in, is preserved today and named the 'Vande Mataram Bhavan'. This has a basement and a ground floor.

The Vande Mataram Bhavan where BankimChandraChattopadhyay wrote Vande Mataram is situated at the banks of Hooghly River. The basement is today used for exhibitions, and the ground floor as Aadhar Kendra (last I checked). Wish that GoI and GoWB do more to preserve it.

The National Song of India - VandeMataram - was written by BankimChandraChattopadhyay during the freedom struggle. The writer truly believed that the pen is mightier than the sword and used his words to evoke a sense of patriotism in Indians.

"This country belongs to us. This is our Motherland. We are the children of this soil. You have no more moral or legal right to rule over this country than we have to rule over your England."
-Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay
